Dua Beneath the Sky – Remembering the Creator Through His Creation

By Miriam Mohamed

There is something deeply stirring about standing beneath an open sky. Whether it is the soft blush of dawn, the brilliance of a midday sun, or the quiet scattering of stars at night, nature invites the heart into remembrance. For Muslim parents, these moments are not only personal spiritual opportunities—they are also powerful teaching tools for nurturing a child’s connection with Allah Most High. In a world filled with constant noise and distraction, stepping outside allows both parent and child to reconnect with something timeless - creation itself, which quietly and consistently points back to the Creator.

The Wood Wide Web: Signs Beneath Our Feet

By Abu Hudhayfah Edwards

There are forests that seem quiet.

You walk through them and hear only the wind brushing against leaves, the soft crack of twigs beneath your feet, and perhaps the distant call of a bird. Everything appears still, separate, and independent.

But beneath that silence, there is movement.

Beneath that stillness, there is connection.

Hidden in the soil is a vast network, one that scientists today call the Wood Wide Web. It is a system where trees are linked together through fine strands of fungi, exchanging nutrients, signals, and support.

Inspiration

In Islam, nature is viewed as a divine sign (ayah) of Allah's wisdom and a trust (amanah) for humanity to protect

Teaching Wudu to Young Children

By Wendy Diaz

The Islamic tradition emphasizes cleanliness, and one of the ways Muslims stay clean throughout the day is by performing wudu, or ritual washing. Wudu, or ablution, is necessary for Islamic practices like prayer, touching the Quran, and performing tawaf around the Kaaba. It is also recommended before engaging in other acts of worship, such as supplication, and even before sleeping. In fact, it is considered an act of worship in itself. Naturally, wudu is one of the first lessons Muslim parents teach their children to help them prepare for other obligatory actions. While it may seem simple, teaching young children is not always easy, so parents and caregivers need to approach this topic with knowledge and wisdom.

Hadith Inspiration

“And it is He who sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby the growth of all things. We produce from it greenery from which We produce grains arranged in layers. And from the palm trees - of its emerging fruit are clusters hanging low. And [We produce] gardens of grapevines and olives and pomegranates, similar yet varied. Look at [each of] its fruit when it yields and [at] its ripening. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.”
Suratul An’Am 6:99

The Many Health Benefits in Nature

By Tayaabah Qazi

Islam places a significant emphasis on nature and its relationship with humanity. God in the Quran describes the eternal abode for the believers Jannaat (gardens), as places of exquisite and unimaginable beauty. Gardens where believers experience peace and joy in their luxurious environment and services they’ve earned through righteous deeds in their time on Earth.
