Consistency is Key When Learning the Quran

By Wendy Díaz

A common concern for many Muslim parents is how to help their children build a strong, lasting relationship with the Quran. For most, the goal is not limited to memorization. It is about raising children who love the Quran, live by its teachings, and carry its light into every aspect of their lives. We know that a child who grows up connected to the Quran is more likely to remain grounded in their faith, especially in today’s turbulent world. The Quran offers guidance for every stage of life, serving as a roadmap to help us fulfill our purpose and reach our ultimate destination: Paradise. And beyond the spiritual and emotional benefits, memorizing the Book of Allah comes with immense rewards that are multiplied when it is done with sincere intention and consistency.

As for those who believe and whose descendants follow them in faith, We will elevate their descendants to their rank, never discounting anything ˹of the reward˺ of their deeds. Every person will reap only what they sowed

Prayer as the Most Consistent Act in the Muslim Home

By Mahasin D. Shamsid-Deen

Within the Muslim household the establishment of prayer is a must.  Prayer is an obligatory act in Islam, one of the basic five principles and perhaps the most significant action that exists in the Muslim household.  Establishing prayer within the household as a consistent activity is crucial in helping and reinforcing Taqwa and Iman and developing akhlaq as an essential part of each person’s personality because family members are reminded to be every conscious of their Lord.

“…The man again asked, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) What is Ihsan (i.e. perfection or Benevolence)?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Ihsan is to worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you do not achieve this state of devotion, then (take it for granted that) Allah sees you…"

Healing Through Consistency: Learning to Show Up for Myself

By Miriam Mohamed

I started searching for other verses, other patterns—and I noticed it wasn’t a one-off. Time and again, the Qur’an places emphasis on individual accountability and care for the self before turning to others. I realized then that putting yourself first isn’t selfish—it’s alignment. Islam doesn’t teach us to neglect ourselves in pursuit of caring for others; rather, it calls us to include ourselves. To recognize that we too are worthy of the same compassion, forgiveness, and care we offer so freely to those around us.

Statistics On Parenting

Studies on Muslim religious practices in general, and in the US, show a strong emphasis on parents teaching their children the essentials of prayer.
