Reviving the Sunnah or ways of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, in caring for and interacting with Allah’s creation, can not only help us be better stewards of this planet we call home but also come closer to the guidance that Allah, the Most High, has given us. At a time when more and more natural places are depleted and destroyed for industry, habitats are polluted by everyday living, and entire animals species are lost to violence, there is no time to waste! Here are three nature-based Sunnahs the whole family can start living by and enjoy.

 Parenting Tip

Muslim parents can come across a ton of advice on how to raise a family. But there is no better way than following Islamic guidance and no better example than the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. Work to emulate his Sunnah.

Inspiration

“We most commonly assume that tarbiyah (the Islamic way of upbringing) has more to do with spiritual and behavioral development, however, these two aspects account for just a part of it. There is surely more to complete the package. Not only did the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, emphasize the importance of nurturing good character but also exemplified the development of skills, intellect, devotion or worship, and creed or beliefs.”

Adam's World Videos: Stewards of the Earth

Aneesah works to help big brother Adam notice how much energy he is wasting throughout the day. It dawns on him that Allah has appointed us as stewards of the Earth and with that comes responsibility. The Arabic letter "khaa" for khalifah and the English letter "S" for steward are featured. A nasheed by Dawud Wharnsby called Stewards of the Earth is a nice addition. (8:48)
