Making a Summer Dream Board

By Melissa Barreto

One of the strategies used by proponents of growth mindset with children is visualizations, the practice of picturing your goals in front of you to help make it easier to work toward them. Writer Melissa Barreto uses this strategy to create a Summer Dream Board. Her kids use magazine cutouts, images printed from the internet, or hand-drawn pictures that depict each of their goals and dreams in different categories:

  1. Fun Things to Do
  2. Places to Go
  3. Things to Get Better At
  4. New Things to Try
