Palestine Is a Blessed Land of Prophetic Connections

By Uzma Ahmed

The region which now includes present-day Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria, holds a special place in the hearts and minds of the Ummah or Muslim community. Palestine, often called the land of the Prophets, is particularly significant. The whole area was known as Al-Shaam and it is where numerous Prophets, including Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses), Dawud (David), Sulayman (Solomon), and Isa (Jesus), peace be upon them all, lived and conveyed the message of Tawhid (Oneness of Allah). Knowing this Islamic history is important.

 Parenting Tip

The atrocities that are taking place in Palestine painfully touch the hearts of Muslims around the globe. Parents must educate themselves and their children about the decades-long occupation and oppression of Palestinian people and what is also nuanced about the latest conflict. This special issue of Muslim Home is a comprehensive look at the past from a historical and Islamic perspective, the chilling realities of the present genocide, and what the future holds for the region.

Why Muslim Children Should Know about Palestine

By Uzma Ahmed

Educating Muslim children about Palestine is crucial in developing a strong connection with Islam itself.  The Quran and Sunnah connect us to Palestine, making it inextricably linked to our beliefs. Educator Uzma Ahmed focuses her attention on the sacredness of Masjid Al-Aqsa in the city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), which was built only 40 years after the Kaaba. Learn more from four critical angles – Islamic, historical, Ummah-centered, and global perspectives.

Inspiration

“Educating Muslim children about Palestine is not just about imparting knowledge; it is about shaping their identity, reinforcing their beliefs, and fostering a sense of connection and responsibility towards the global Muslim community. By understanding the significance of Palestine, children can grow into informed, compassionate, and active members of the Ummah, dedicated to justice and the betterment of the world.”

Genocide in Palestine Is a Living Nightmare

By Uzma Ahmed

The narrative surrounding Palestine is often clouded by misinformation and has been overtaken by language that distorts reality. An ongoing war of propaganda has obscured and erased crucial facts about life for Palestinians. Over the past year, we have been locked in grief as we witness a genocide before our very eyes. It is a horrific genocide that is downplayed by the media and Western governments. Three particular elements warrant special attention – displacement, Western/U.S. complicity, and prisoners of war.

Quranic Guidance

“As for the disbelievers, they are guardians of one another. And unless you ˹believers˺ act likewise, there will be great oppression and corruption in the land.”

(Surah Al-Anfal, 8:73)

Historic Roots of Zionism: The Occupation of Palestine

By Uzma Ahmed

Palestine has been under Islamic rule since the 7th century, and it was interrupted only by the Crusades. This article brings to light the key events that helped shape the transfer of power from Muslims to Zionists and create a Jewish state on the ruins of an Islamic state. It aims to provide an overview of the origins of Zionism, key historical milestones such as the Balfour Declaration and the capture of Jerusalem by General Allenby, and the subsequent events leading up to the Nakba, the catastrophe of occupation of Palestinian land by Jewish settlers.

Palestine: 76 Years of Occupation

By Uzma Ahmed

Since the Nakba, also known as the catastrophe, the Palestinian people have endured relentless hardships, including killing, torture, imprisonment, loss of land, restricted movement, and daily violence. This article will look at the aftermath of the Nakba until the present and posit an analysis of how the U.S., Arab regimes, and international institutions such as the United Nations facilitate the Zionist entity's continued genocide.

Prophetic Guidance

"The example of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a body. When any limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever."

(Bukhari)

Peace in Palestine

By Uzma Ahmed

Peace is defined in most dictionaries as “a state or period in which there is no war or a war has ended.” We are currently far from peace in Palestine and it appears that Israeli aggression could expand the conflict further. Past peace agreements in Palestine resemble attempts to negotiate with intruders who have occupied your home and continue to exploit both you and your property without respite. It is difficult to fathom how such a process could be deemed fair but it is nonetheless important to review historic attempts to ease tensions to make a way forward.
