Raising Awareness about Mental Health

A knowledgeable counselor or mental health therapist can help to identify unhealthy responses, suggest measures to cope with the stress of life changes, and even offer medication to assist as a short- or long-term treatment. Unfortunately, in the Muslim community, there are many misunderstandings and harmful attitudes related to mental health and mental illness. These create a stigma against those who are suffering and also discourage individuals and families from seeking the help they need. Learn more about this important topic and how we can all work individually and collectively to make change in this area.

 

 Parenting Tip

All of us have an interest in mental health and well-being. For parents, that should apply to our children, ourselves, and our communities. It is imperative that we work to raise awareness and remove any stigma that prevents individuals and families from  reaching out for help when needed.
